mr kolvekar

I've recently had a consultation with mr kolvekar so i'm just looking for some feedback from anyone who's had the nuss done by kolvekar only. I'm 99% sure that i'm going ahead with surgery but it would be nice to have some feedback on his results and what to expect post surgery etc.

Have only had bar removal but apart from cancellation everything was done very efficiently.
The Heart Hospital is an excellent facility with great staff.
Kolkevar is an honest if somewhat brusque man who says it like it is.
Hope this helps , there are a few others on here who have been "Missed" by Mr K so try searching old posts and journals.
Good luck with it all ...

Cheers Bruce

If you have a symmetrical dent, i don't think it would be a problem. If like me you had asymmetry and rib flare, then Kolvekar may not be your best choice.

I'm sure Kolvekar will do a good job.

I visited him before my Nuss.

I opted for Prof Schaarschmidt over Kolvekar due to:

- Kolvekar using short bars. They have the plus of a quicker recovery & possibly more flexibility whilst in, but with the down side of less stability & scars being prominent on the front of the chest.

I hope it goes well for you. Keep us posted as to how it goes!

Tim

Well things have progressed recently, looks like i'll be nussed by Kolvekar around mid October. Mixed emotions at the moment, excited to be dent free but at the same time dreading the pain post op and a bit scared of the result and not being happy with it etc.

It's normal to be apprehensive about the surgery and its results.
Each patient is different and will achieve a slightly different outcome.
There is no such thing as a perfect chest , manage your expectations accordingly and you will be fine.
The pain will be bearable as strong pain relief is dispensed in the initial post op period.
The pain will then be managed so don't worry about it .
Good luck going forward and hope you get the result you seek and get rid of the damn dent .
