PE37 emailed me earlier to say andy has seen small improvements again today.

'the news this morning was good. Another positive little step in the right direction, a little better than yesterday. Still critical, but it's all about little steps at this stage. Apparently he was also moving his eyelids when his sisters were talking to him. they think he'll wake slowly over the next couple of days.'

keep praying people that andy will continue to recover.

Andy /Hedhog is much better, 2 days free of fever, his severe pneumonia decreasing
but still needing some ventilatory support, which we will try to get rid of in the next days

unfortunately a redo beyond fifty is a severe operation if complicated by pneumonia, that is why breathing exercises are of paramount importance, but now I am confident we get him back onto the right track

Great news for Andy!!
To all that is reading this post, this goes to show what a caring, genuine man Dr. Schaar really is. Besides his incredible experience as a surgeon he is also a great human being! What other surgeon in the world keeps in touch with his patients and gives updates on the ones who are in rough shape. There is only one!!
Schaar is a surgical artist!!

Andy is a fighter and will get over this major hump. Lots of prayers stilll going his way.

Hi All

Just to let you know that Andy is having another operation at the moment to help clear the infection. Apparently the doctor in charge in ICU wasn't happy with the level of bacteria. But hopefully this will be another positive step.

I might not get an update until the morning, but will post the news following this operation as soon as possible.

All the best

I need you to get better so you can come and visit me when I have the op at the end of April, the hospital is not too far from Bristol and I'll need you to bring me some mcdonalds and other snacks. Come on andy, you're gonna win this battle, your a fighter!!!

Olly, thanks so much for keeping us updated on how Andy is doing. I hate to think of him going through another operation but I'm hoping this will be what he needs to help him fight this off and start getting better.

And I know this is Andy's thread, but I hope you're doing well in your recovery too!

Andy, I know you can't read this now, but I'm keeping you in my prayers. I hope that soon you will be reading all your posts and that they will give you strength and support. We're all rooting for you!

Surgery went well and Andy's temperature was lower afterwards (high temp being one of the reasons for doing that op). He has also been fitted with two 'vacuum cleaners' to the lungs which sounds like clever stuff.

They also believe they are improving Andy's pain relief, so today should be a better day for him.

Fingers crossed (and eveyrthing else crossed) that the improvement continues today...

JoJane - thanks for your good wishes. I'm doing ok thanks. Bar removal is much easier than bar insertion, although it's still not a ride in the park!
