Nuss bar and the army :P
I've had about a year with My nuss bar, and I really want to join. I feel just fine I'm very very active and My bar does not bother Me much, so i
don't see there being any problems,I can carry heavy things, I'm very into backpacking,I ride my bike something like 80 miles a week, I can do sit-ups
and push-ups with no problem. Other then that, I wrecked my bike a few weeks ago by running into a pole at about 10 mph, the pole hit my square in the
chest, so I'm sure My bar is quite solid. I would very much like to not wait till My bar is out to join, but i want to see what you guys think first.
I'm having a very hard time with this one, so any word on this at all would be great.

I'd contact your surgeon first and see what they say. There is a lot of very high impact activities during boot camp that could possibly dislodge the
bar or cause it to move slightly. Secondly, I'd contact an army recruiter and see if its even possible to join with the bar in. But even if the
recruiter says you are good to go, you may not pass your physical with the army doc. Thats where I'd start.
How old are you? Who was your surgeon?

I'm 19 and quite tired of waiting. I sent an email to the recruiter and I'm going to call my doctor later today (who is Dr. Robert Love out of Loyola
in IL.) IF they say yes then I'm going, I just wanted to hear from people who have the bar also. I just don't think i can stand another year.

Listen to your doctor. If he (and the recruiter) says yes, and if you feel up for it, then do it.

Just do it if you feel up to it! The worst that can happen is they tell you no. Better to let them say no, than to tell yourself no. You'll get a
full medical evaluation by the military docs, so don't worry about it and don't push the issue and you should be ok. Let us know how it works out.
Good luck!

The military might not even accept you do to this issue, have you looked into it? My buddy was denied access into the marines because he was flat
footed, he runs 40 miles a week for petes sake. good luck
