Physician Involvement

I'm sure there is no correct answer as either way is probably acceptable, but what are your thoughts on doc's being active and involved on here?

I only know of one to date that has checked in so as of right now it's not a major issue but would you perceive it as a positive or negative if in the future there were was more physician involvement? Why?

Just as long as they are not using the forum to hawk their wares. The more the merrier, I say.

I think it would be a good thing.

I imagine that most physicians are not going to want to participate in a forum like this for liability reasons. They can't give medical advice over the internet to a patient they haven't examined. I know that Schaar and some others do give advice in this way, but most wouldn't feel comfortable. Furthermore, a lot of them are very busy!

The only issue I see with it is potentially making it uncomfortable for their patients to be able to speak freely about their experience. If someone's surgeon was here, reading everything they wrote, the patient may not feel comfortable speaking openly.
