Nuss bars and airports.

I was just wondering if any of you with your bars in place have been through airport security and what sort of reaction you got.

Hi Neil. Yeah you are issued a inplant passport. It states you have bars in your chest with a photo. Believe me it squeals when you go through.
My missus stopped us going abroad until they come out. LOL
When I came back from Helios some 10 days after my Nuss, they took me into another room to verify my operation and nearly threw up after I took my pressure bandage off.

I have been through airport security in the USA 6 times since surgery, and not once have they gone off. They usually put me in the body scan machine which wont pick up anything inside your body, but even the regular metal detector wasn't going off. I have also been through countless metal detectors at court houses and government buildings with nothing going off at all. But im sure other metal detectors vary by make and model and sensitivity to different metals.

On average I fly about 50 times a year. You don't beep.
Also, don't go thru the nudo-scope. They tell you its safe but it got me worried after TSA agent asked me if I had necklace on. Then week later another TSA agent at different airport asked me this again. I won't go thru that peep show machine again. Since then I've been asking for personal pat down. It takes 2 minutes but I don't have to be exposed to more radiation.

I've flown about 20 times since surgery and the only time it's beeped was for a random check. I've never had to show anyone my card but carry it just in case. I've also been through the xray machines at the airport no less than 10 times and never once have they stopped me or patted me down. It's a super low energy, just enough to get through your clothing but not really penetrate your skin. But I see where WithPC had a different experience, maybe Schaar uses slightly different bars.

I know the card I have says the bars are not magnetic and you can even get an MRI if needed, with the bars in.

The problem is not with the bar, but with TSA. DHS received scare few months ago that terrorists will implant bombs. And that triggered more unnecessary actions. Apparently they turned up the x-ray volume to see inside the body. It has never happened to me before (flying for 2.5 years with bar in).

The only time mine has triggered the beeper was when coming back from surgery in Berlin. Otherwise, nada.
